We visit all the time. The animals are amazing, staff is excellent. Wish it was just a little larger, but for a smaller zoo there is still plenty to do. My kids love their okay area and the new sky walk structure is pretty amazing.
I take a 1 1/2 drive from my home to visit this Zoo and I love it....I take my.3yr. Old grandbaby and she loves it... They always have something going on, not only for the children but for the adults as well.
Hattiesburg Zoo is a great place to visit , but leaves you a little heartbroken like most zoos will. The wonderful thing about them is they take in animals that have been injured or abandoned and give them clean, rehabilitative, interesting living environments to live in. There are also learning kiosks, cultural custom displays, signs and keeper tutorials that help you better understand the animals and habitats from their original home.
Some of the attractions were closed but all in all, we were very impressed. It is a small zoo, but the animal habitats are very natural and there's a good variety of species. This is a wonderful place for children and adults and the admission is so reasonable. The keepers are friendly and very knowledgeable. We especially enjoyed the lemurs. A great way to spend an afternoon!
My families favorite zoo!! Its super cheap and pretty amazing!! They have a train that you can ride in around the entire zoo and its only 2$ extra. The confessions are not to high considering its zoo food.. The animals are great and the workers are very helpful and very hospitable.
It's a small, lovely zoo that has a "restaurant" serving casual food as well as a splash pad, snoball truck and train station with daily tours around it. Costs are minimal with a $5 entrance fee and $2 train ride. Kamper Park is adjacent to it and is a nice place to hang out if you have small kids.
