Attended the birthday party of a long time dear friend, the facilities at the main office were used and were quite adequate in all respects. Additionally a nice scenic drive around the lake are available if one has the time and inclination. Had a great time.
We are local and camp at Paul B Johnson State Park often. It is a very nice campground. However, in the past we haven't seen many Park Ranges patrolling the campground.
After a nightmare of a week, we spent 3 days in a cabin on the lake and it was so beautiful and relaxing that I didn't want to leave. Simply amazing. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The only suggestion I can make is perhaps some spider repellent around the door frames.
This place is beautiful! We stayed at an RV site in a tent. They have a small beach, which was really nice! The kids loved it. There is also a pier to fish off of with a small island at the end. The bathrooms we okay. The park was pretty full and surprising quiet at night. I would highly recommend this park. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because they charge $6 for kids and $8 for adults to get into the splash park. I think that is a ridiculous price for a Splash park. I don't understand why they must charge for adults!? I definitely didn't pay that price. We just stayed at the beach most of the time.
Beautiful, relaxing park. I loved the nature tall and frisbee golf course. The park is maintained well. Very easy to reach from Highest 49 south of Hattiesburg.
We are here this weekend and I am pleased to report that we have seen park rangers very often. To have a safe park for families with small children, it needs to be supervised.
