Other reviews indicate that the club card and magazine offers are scams but speaking from experience, if you are in the store buying on a regular basis you WILL get your money's worth in savings. The magazine deals are also great if you actually read the magazine you sign up for- individual magazines start around 10 dollars so you wind up saving A LOT. They are not difficult to cancel at all.
I'm most at home surrounded by books, so I visit bookstores and libraries often. BAM's employees are super helpful, and the selection of books, merchandise and quirky items is great. My only complaint: the restroom is always dirty, and today it was sans soap.
Also, cashiers literally make twenty-five CENTS when a customer signs up for a club card. Nobody is out to scam you for information or dig into any pockets, the club is there for frequent shoppers who KNOW they will end up saving much more than the cost of signing up by using the card.
this is a nice store but I couldn't find a employee willing to answer questions. Also I am troubled by the scam run by the company when you check out. The offer of free magazines is a scam. This will be auto shipped and you will be charged unless you cancel. They make it hard to cancel. The CLUB is a joke costing 30 dollars simply as a way to get your personal information and charge number. The cashiers push these things because they receive a commission. Horrible business practices. Customers need to spend money with HONEST, UPFRONT companies who as loyal to customers. People should not do business with companies whose 1st concern is how deeply they can get into your pockets. Buy what you need and get out fast. Do not fall for these free money saving scams. 11/16/17 I got the a magazine ANYWAY even though I told them I didnt want it. I marked it return to sender did not order. Today my account was charged 17.99. The phone number associated with this was wrong. I called the Books a million store who very nonchalantly told me to call and cancel the ordewr. No appology about scamming me or lying. 1st I never wanted free magazine and second there was only 1 sent to me before I was charged. Tell me on what planet this is legal and not a scam. I will be reporting them to the attorney General as sopon as I post. If I could give a negative star they would get a -5. I am very angry. This is bad business all the way around. LOOK OUT!!!!!!
